Good ole Antibes. How to describe Antibes? Short and sweet; it is an old Fortified European sea side village now swollen overflowing with development far into the distance. It is home to Port Vauban, Europe’s largest yachting marina and Fort Carre, an ancient fort that overlooks the city and bay. It is particularly nice due to its convenient nature for those in and around the port. Access to wonderful French restaurants and bars, lots of shopping to satisfy most of those consumer needs, small open markets proudly displaying their fresh colorful fruits, wine, food, and tons of other things. Our duration here awarded us with some absolutely stunning weather, less a few days of rain. Crisp cool mountain air mixed with the sweet salty smell of the ocean and all baked in a warm end of summer season sun; a perfect combination. I speculate this spectacular weather is due to Antibes’s close proximity to the French Alps. Whatever the reasons, I thoroughly enjoyed the weather here. We ended up getting few days off while we were here in Antibes. However, I did make the most of the limited days we did get.
